Default High School Lit Guides in the works? Poetry & Prose Book IV?

Beyond those texts currently listed on the site, are there any additional high school literature guides in the works? Also, will there be a Poetry Book IV published?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Yes, we have The Talisman being formatted for publication now. And I am finished with Wuthering Heights, which will be formatted and published soon. I am also well into Henry IV Part I. Coming after these will be The Great Gatsby and Anna Karenina. And there are some other classics lined up to follow those, like Dickens' Great Expectations, etc.

Thank you for suggesting a Poetry & Prose Book IV! I will talk to our Curriculum Director, Tanya Charlton, about this. I can envision a fantastic anthology of 20th century poems and short stories, since our last anthology concluded at 1900.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

    David,
This list makes me so happy! The only request I have is that you keep plugging away creating these amazing guides. We won't ever be able to do all these books and that's ok. It will be wonderful to have options for creating an excellent literature experience for all our kids.

Thank you for your faithful work!

Well thank you! That is very encouraging. I sure will. That is just what we want to do with our literature selections at MP: provide Guides for as many enduring classics as we can; to offer several options for a thorough, enriching literary education.

    Stay in touch!

    David,

I just want to say that we LOVE the literature guides and choices (my kids are doing the 8th, 9th, and 10th grade). They are so well done and rich with insight, discussion opportunities, vocabulary...I could go on. Your efforts are greatly appreciated :-)

    Agreed!

We just hit the American poetry and short stories book with my 8th grader. She normally chugs right along her day and I come along and check through it with her at some point. But she did a full stop when she got to this guide because it was the first one she had encountered with the upper school format. Despite the irritation of having to listen to mom talk for ďa while,Ē and actually have to read the articles in the front she would have preferred to skip, 🤣 we had a great intro to this next phase! And big brother chimed in quite a lot from the dining room too - which always makes me glad to see things that have stuck with them!

I love how these guides walk me right through what to do each and every time so each child gets taught well, regardless of how much time I have had (or not had!) to prep. I canít wait for these new options. Thanks from our corner too!

Thank you, Ally and Sarah! This means a lot to me. It is wonderful to hear of your faithful efforts to educate your children, and educate them well, with heart and mind... I'm grateful our materials can be a part of your heroic journey (yes, homeschooling is heroic! It may take some years for the blessings to be fully recognized or realized, but they will come, and they are eternal.)

If you have any questions about a story, poem, analysis, or about writing, etc., please don't hesitate to email or call me. You get the author on speed dial! Ha!
