I was looking at the Acts of the Apostles set, and don't see it scheduled in a core year: am I missing it? and if it isn't scheduled, is there a particular spot you'd recommend for it?

Is it not in a core. I'm using it this year in ninth with War of the Jews. My advice is to wait until ninth for Story of Christianity. I'd use in it eighth with something else to fill the year. There are no quizzes and tests and it simply walks you through the book, chapter by chapter.
Depending on whether you use the standard or accelerated cores this might not be an issue. We are on the accelerated.Festina lentē,
