    Default Kindergarten Core Skills Schedule

I was preparing for the coming school year and found several Core Skills pages that are scheduled on 2 different weeks. Can you let me know which week they belong in and if there are any replacement pages for the duplicate week?

K-51, scheduled for both weeks 19 and 21
K-56, scheduled for both weeks 22 and 25
K-72, scheduled for both weeks 12 and 16
K-99, scheduled for both weeks 2 and 16

I ordered the first week of June, not sure if these have already been discussed or corrected.

    Thanks!

I encountered those weeks, too. We did Kinder core last school year and I bought my core manual sometime in February 2015. Now I wonder if there were replacements for those duplicate pages....I didn't bother to ask at that time because I was relieved for my Kinder to do one less thing since some weeks I would add spelling practice whenever spelling was scheduled for that week. We would read and practice spelling words from Monday to Wednesday to prepare for spelling days, which were usually on Thursdays.

Oh, sorry. You are correct! We'll get this fixed. In the meantime, these are totally supplemental worksheets, so don't worry about them the 2nd time they show up! And if you want to skip them altogether due to time, that is fine as long as your student has mastered the concept being reviewed.

    Thanks for letting us know!

I considered the "Dictation" of 20 words (one time 40 words) on some Thursdays/Fridays as spelling. Most words were easy for my kinder but he needed more practice on the sight words. The dictation under the Assessment part was even graded.

These pictures are not from Core Skills Phonics but from First Start Reading. I mentioned that I added spelling practice to the Kindergarten manual schedule during the weeks when "dictation" was assigned.

I see. Thanks for the explanation. I was trying to figure out how spelling fit in k. My head is full of congestion which evidently makes me thick headed! I will have to view attachments tomorrow because I can't figure out how to see them on my phone.

    Blessings,

Those pictures are from the FSR teacher guide page 71 and an Assessment Dictation from FSR-B student guide (a random work my kinder did).

If I am not doing it the MP or HLS way, it's okay- my son is doing very well my way. 😊

    I hope you feel better!

I have noticed some odd assignments for the Core Skill Phonics in K. I've been meaning to post for awhile, so hopefully they've already been corrected. A few times I've seen Core Skill Phonics pages assigned for a letter that hasn't been taught in First Start Reading. For example: Week 23, Thursday K p. 79 and 1 p. 48 are both over the letter Y. First Start Reading pp. 60-61 (Yy) are taught the following day.

Is it supposed to be worked that way? I always just rearranged a little to make sure the letter was taught first in First Start Reading.

    Thanks, Courtney

You found one we missed. I have noted this change. It was confusing when we were assigning the Core Skills pages because we were using two books!

    Thanks for letting us know.
