Jr. K Numbers and Colors (5 day)
Starting with Week 9 Thursday, the order for the colors is way off. For example, in week 9, the curriculum manual says to introduce the color word green, show and tell about green things, but to do p. 23 in the Numbers and Colors workbook, which is orange. The page numbers/assignments never match up...

That you don't have to do everything listed in the curriculum guide. Some math worksheets and phonics workbooks are for extra practice as needed, and if your student has a good grasp on the material, they aren't necessary. This is mentioned in the beginning of the curriculum guide, but I definitely...

We use wet and dry erase books for our 3 year old twins to scribble in while their big sister does school. Plus some alphabet puzzles, tangrams, sorting toys, etc. Their attention span is still really short, so they might last for half an hour in the school room before they wander off....

Question about syllables in Story Time Treasures
I've noticed that words that begin with "any," such as anyone, anything, etc. have been divided into two syllables (any-one, any-thing). I'm pretty sure they are actually 3 syllables, and I've been splitting them up as a-ny-one, a-ny-thing, etc. Is that the correct way, or would it be better...

My plan is to have a baby and invite grandparents, aunts, and uncles over to entertain the older kids while I deal with a newborn, haha!

It's mainly supplemental work. You skip around a bit as you do the different letters and sounds each week. It's not too advanced for kindergarten, so don't worry about that. We focus on the lessons in the first start reading books first and use the phonics books if we have extra time or need extra practice....

Questions/clarifications for 1st grade
I'm finally organizing my 1st grade stuff for next year. I ordered in February.
1. I have the book "Penguin Chick" instead of "Penguins are Cool." Is this a change that was made and not reflected in the curriculum manual or did I get the wrong book?
2....

I have found that scheduling in "downtime" helps my mental state enormously. Every 4-5 weeks, I schedule in a week of break/sick days/falling behind days. We eat them up as necessary, and if we reach the end of the 4-5 weeks with some days left, we take them off. It makes me feel less "guilty"...

I loved the Dear America books as a kid. Those are a bit girl centric, but there is a "boy" series called My Name is America. They are out of print, but you can usually find some used copies. The books are written journal style and pretty fast-paced....

I love Anuna's Christmas stuff. They sing my favorite version of my favorite carol, Noel Nouvelet.

Centralized list of changes?
I know that the curriculum is constantly being tweaked and improved, but is there a place on the website where I could find a running list of those changes? For example, MP just released their own addition flash cards. I only know about them from a random post on these forums. I would love it if MP...

I use a lot of sticky notes. I go through all of the teacher manuals on the weekend and write down what I need to do on sticky notes, which I then put in my lesson planner over the correct day and subject. When I finish a lesson, I throw away the sticky note. This allows me to trim down the lessons...

We just discuss the vocabulary words as they come up in the story if they're unfamiliar. For writing the poem, I made up a couplet and left off the last word and had my daughter provide it, making it rhyme. For the poetry, I'm focusing on instilling a love of poetry more than true analysis. We talk...
