Can we discuss teaching our children study skills? We're in 5th grade this year and I can tell that we need to focus on these habits for the rest of the year. What does your child's study routine look like or what practical tips do you have for laying good habits for them moving forward?

Lit struggles.... 4th grade and its still not better
Morning all.I have two children currently doing 4th grade lit, ages 10 and almost 9. The 10 yr old is doing a full 4th grade core but the 9 yr old is 4th in everything but English and Comp. He's my math loving child and I think he needs that extra maturity to really do well in Comp. This leads me...

I've heard of using songs for transition (Waldorf educators do this often) but I've never thought of using our poems! What a great concept for added reinforcement!

As others have said, we'd love MP shirts! We would want polos and vests mainly, maybe some tshirts....

R&S vs Saxon for 4th
This year my husband is pushing me to use as many resources as I can to ease my workload. We are using MP online for Latin and a friend offered me her Saxon Math DVD's to use for my oldest two. Not gonna lie, its very VERY tempting. Math is a weak area for us and I'd feel better knowing that they'd...

I missed the second one!!! Ahh! That's what I get for not checking the forum.? I was burried under masks and laundry.
I feel bad since I felt like I hogged the first one talking about all my woes. ?
Hope y'all had fun. If there's ever another count me in. I SO needed that...

Welcome! I just wanted to say, as a fellow perfectionist, that everything you're feeling right now is completely normal.I can also say that you need to really prepare for the mental game you're going to play with yourself as your first year progresses. The first year is a huge learning curve for...

If I'm thinking correctly, TS1 covers silent e, all the long vowel team, the oo vowel team, and the h teams. If your son has those mastered then I'd go with TS2. I wouldn't combine those two as most boys aren't to impressed when their little sister is with them and they're older. I had mine combined...

Has anyone thought of a virtual meet up?
So there are just days where I wish I could just sit and talk with some of y'all MP moms. Right now I feel overwhelmed. My children are doing marvelous in some things but then other subjects are just lagging. Then I feel like I'm starting to hit burnout. I know I'm not alone and as some of my girlfriends...

You have been given fantastic advice above! I just wanted to add this. Remember that there is no race to 18 and that learning doesn’t stop with school. When I stopped and realized how much I had learned after I became an adult, it really eased my mental burden. I learned all that I know about Classical...Last edited by Catherine S; 03-02-2020, 08:31 AM.

So I printed all my quizzes and tests and put them in a massive 3 ring binder. I used sticky tab dividers and wrote the subject on, then used those to separate. I just get out the quizzes and tests when needed and then placed the completed tests at the back of that section when done. My plan is to just...

Thanks so much for all your input ladies! ?
I honestly never intended to combine them. It just happened. naturally when my oldest started school. They were best buddies then (and are still close) so he just tagged along and held his own.
I know it’s time to do some separating...

3rd Grade struggles. Do I lighten up or tighten up?
Just to give the back story, I have two children in 3rd grade. My nine yr old had a late birthday and short attention span so I started her a little later than "typical". When I did, her younger brother just went along with her and did very well...until now. We are on week 12ish of 3M and...
