Re: Between K and 1
What level will he be at? I thought he could read the Fun in the Sun and other two books. I also have the Bob books. Thanks!

Between K and 1
In the old K, book E was an over summer plan. With it moving to 1st grade, what do you suggest for over tge break after we finish FSR D? We will be "off" for about 4-6 weeks, not the whole summer.

Re: Yay! New Spelling
With what Michael mentioned in the quote above, am I correct in concluding that Traditional Spelling II leads up to SWO C? I"m wondering how hard the words get, looking at it for remedial purposes. Thanks!...

Re: OT: Gift Ideas?
I think in your case I'd start with a simple CD player. It should be less than $30, especially if you can use your libraries audiobook/cd collection.
In my case, a couple things influenced my decision:
1. My children were young and kept scratching...

Re: OT: Gift Ideas?
I should clarify on the music. It is very easy to stream free (with Prime) or purchase mp3 music from Amazon and listen on the kindle. I think it is possible to load music from other sources, but I don't know how. Also, if you purchase a CD from Amazon, you can...

Re: OT: Gift Ideas?
The Kindle Fire's are very affordable now. They are small tablets for under $50. I wouldn't worry about the kids version; just set parental controls. Then you can download audiobooks directly to the Kindle. You do have to purchase audiobooks or get a membership....

Re: FSR A and Blending
Yes, it was. I always forget about building words using the ending or word families. We'll play with that for the words covered in FSR-A and some letters....

FSR A and Blending
My third DS (5 last March) went through MP JrK, loved it, and did well. He is at the end of FSR A in MPK. He isn't getting blending, I think.
Ex: On assessment word list,
cat -He can sound out every letter, say a bit faster, and then say Sam, or something that is just...

Re: Math Fact Woes
One thing I've noticed: we need to do facts in order for a LoNG time. That is, when learning the x3's, I shuffle deck. However, my son's number sense is weak; he doesn't know what numbers are multiples of 3. I've started having him do the x3's in order (on Quizlet)...

OT: NAV (non-academic victory)
I'm sharing here because I know you ladies will get it. My DS12 went through a non-competitive soccer program last fall, had a wonderful experience, but never talked to another child. The first day, I needed to walk him to the coach, introduce him, and throughout remind him to say bye, etc. After...
