cherylswope I wanted to share this book with you (in case you hadn't seen it). I was flipping through the Didax math catalog that came today and forgot I had this book. Flipping through the beginning, I think it might be something that can help our struggling math learners with numbers sense - Developing...

Jen, Anita, and Cheryl - thank you so much for your ideas and suggestions. (And permission to buy some more manipulatives and books.)I'm going to start doing a lot more counting and one-to-one correspondence with counters, buttons, etc. I know math can be crazy slow in children with Down syndrome,...

Math Placement
I just did the SC1 readiness test (again) for Kate. She was at a "yes" for almost everything outside of arithmetic (a few verbal areas were still emerging, but honestly, her speech is doing well all things considered). She’s starting to read (we've set FSR aside for the time being though...

K additions - Morning Work and Math Challenge
tanya - Do you know yet where the new Kindergarten additions will fall in the curriculum manual? I'm guessing the Math Challenge would be in the math row, but I could be totally wrong there. I think I'll end up with PDFs this year and am curious which K PDF plans I will want to eventually purchase to...

Thank you, Cheryl, for your reply. She doesn't receive any OT. (We are also currently on a speech hiatus - I needed a break, and she's been improving a lot.) I just grabbed both those books of eBay. I have the reading one and I think at least I might have had the gross motor one at some point. Gross...

Fine motor woes
Kate’s fine motor seems so delayed. She does fine with forks and spoons (rice, cereal, soup, meat, etc. - eating isn’t an issue). When it comes to paper and pencil, it’s another story. She barely holds whatever she’s using to write with. We do a lot of hand over hand because I want to try to...

Would you then start SC C recitation over again in the fall and add the SC 1 recitation to it? Or do the SC A, B, C, and 1 cumulative recitation with her?
Also, I plan on Oliver doing whatever recitation Kate is doing for MP K/SC 1. I’ve never taught the MP cores for K-2. If he does...

SC1 Recitation/Opening & Bible Memory Work
I have the PDF plans for the SC C recitation and love how it is laid out. There’s the quick overview at the beginning but then it’s broken down by topic within each week. And it’s all there - prayer, devotion, recitation, calendar, and weather. Is the SC 1 done the same way, where it’s first...

Will SC 2 have the MP K math challenge? Or the 1st grade one? I’m not too concerned with aligning except if the challenge books get ahead of where Kate would be in the SC progression....

New MP Primary additions
Hi Cheryl, I was curious if the primary level SC curriculum will be including the new MP additions - Math Challenge, Morning Work, and/or Cut & Paste. I'm going to pre-order them for both Oliver and Kate. Kate will benefit greatly from the reinforcement and constant "drill" of math, but...

Will the K curriculum manual be updated with the new additions - not only the math challenge workbook, but the K Morning Work and the Cut & Paste Book? Or will there be a PDF that schedules the new additions?...

One last question (I think). Does the new curriculum manual include which crafts to do from the K enrichment craft book? Or is it open-ended for the parent to pick and choose over the course of the year?...
