Homeschool Helper
Hi,
I wanted to mention an app called Homeschool Helper to help you implement grading. It's for iPad; I use it and it's easy if you want to grade or think it will help.

I also schedule about an hour for worksheet days. Video (I usually don't have him do a worksheet this day) and quiz days - about 20 mins, half hour tops. He was in fourth grade when he took it and a slow writer, but we still finished it in a school year. The best thing I did was to make sure he had...

Hi, we do use incentives to help our son develop skills that need motivating. For example, we would reward for multiplication fact mastery or promotion in swim class. We would help him set a goal using a time frame and if he succeeded he would be rewarded: some screen time for smaller goals up to a...

Hi, I have the history cards and a set of science (the scientist biographies). I think the cards are written from a biblical perspective - no macro evolution - not sure if I'm answering your question. *sorry*
The cards are very well done. My son has used them for oral presentations, sources...

I didn't realize it is a newer addition to the catalog. Now that I think of it, I may have seen the book in the Latin Centered Curriculum. We have read the different versions of the Iliad and Odyssey, but did not continue on with the children's versions of the Aeneid. Not sure why. Thanks again for...

Thank you for replying. It doesn't seem like the Aeneid for Boys & Girls is a popular choice
I may just check out In Search of a Homeland. I want him to have a familiarity with the story and I think your suggestions will do the trick!

Aeneid for Girls & Boys
Hi,
Has anyone used this book with their children? What year/age did you use it and did you use a lit. guide? Perhaps from another publisher because it doesn't look like MP has a guide, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

Summer School
Similar to what Rivendellmom used to do, we study math, Latin and reading over the summer. It's more fun reading, not any sort of lit. study. We take a week off in June for sleep-away summer camp, then 2 weeks off in July for 'Summer Break.' It is just enough school to add...

I agree that getting injured while exercising in general is not ironic, but when you added that the person was trying to get in better shape, but ended up in worse shape- I think that is ironic. That's my vote.

I would like to meet you, too!
I'd like to meet you all, too. I'm new to the forum, but I've been reading all the old threads and gleaning your combined wisdom. I appreciate all the hope and information you offer to us newbies. How do I find out where to meet? I am really looking forward...

We did CC
We did CC, too. We were involved for four years, Essentials for two and I tutored Foundations for two. We really liked the social aspect of it and the practice with weekly oral presentations. I second getting to know the families in the community you want to join, but like any...
