It's been a while since I did this, but I think I just put a ribbon on the wall, marked the middle with Christ's birth, put creation on one end, and today on the other. I think I just used random pictures I found online and printed out. Then attached them to the wall with museum putty.

Wow! Maybe we'll get through however much of RS6 we can through the summer and start VT in the fall. We're only doing the quizzes, chapter reviews and tests for the most part, only doing regular lessons for content that wasn't taught in RS5. Math comes pretty naturally for my oldest with fine motor...

Pre-Algebra
My oldest is cruising through R&S 6. Is College of the Redwoods pre-algebra necessary since Videotext says their algebra program covers pre-algebra, algebra I, and algebra II? I'd love to skip it if we can, but if it's truly necessary, we won't.

I just want to add that the recitation is meant to be done together, as in you say the question and then you both say the answer. Then once in a while you see if he can answer a few on his own to test his mastery.

If he's reading K and level 1 readers then he is not ready for the 2nd grade phonics and spelling. He might be ready for 1st. Can he read a book like Little Bear? I'm not very familiar with 100 easy lessons. MP K assumes mastery of CVC words, sight recognition of many sight words and growing confidence...

A number of people have used sticker paper to cover up subjects they aren't using in the CM and then writing in what they are using. It's a bunch of work up front, but then simple once it's written in....

I made a set of more detailed triplet cards than the TM calls for. The TM tells you to make cards that have the total and one one of the parts (like 11, 6, but not 5). My daughter is still struggling with some of these, so I made a set that has one missing number for all positions in a triplet (ex....

If you follow the link that Jenn posted, the file I posted has these visuals included. You can just print out and laminate. In case it is helpful, I just made these triplet cards. I think they are used in 3rd grade. The TM tells you to make cards that have the total and one one of the parts (like...

I wonder if the goal of holding a whole word in his head for copying is too advanced of a goal for words he can't spell independently? Once you get going with a spelling program, you might consider daily dictation of a few words, then phrases, then sentences from lessons he's mastered. If he's a very...

You might consider having them taking the placement test for Rod & Staff math to see if they are at the right level. It can be found here: https://www.milestonebooks.com/list/...Living_Series/
If they don't place out of the 1st or 2nd grade books, the placement...
