FFL 1st vs. 2nd ed.
How much difference is there between 1st & 2nd ed. First Form? Like if I use 1st ed. Textbook & Teacher Manual with 2nd ed. Workbook will I have issues? Or, alternately, can I still buy 1st ed. workbook?...

Thanks for that info! I will plan to do Greek Myths in 9-10 weeks as a “unit study” and just do other read alouds without Guides during that time so it’s not too overwhelming. I may use some Guides from Veritas too although I know they are a bit different...

How long for Literature Guides?
I don’t really plan to do a full core next year with my 6th grader but would love to add in some Literature Guides to our existing curriculum. How many weeks should I realistically plan for one book? I’m specifically thinking of D’Aulaires’ Greek Myths and maybe Trojan War or something else...

FFL & GR2
Are the lessons in FFL tied to specific lessons in GR2? I know they work together, but i mean is there specific correlations. My 5th grader started GR at the beginning of the year so is almost finished but we are only on Lesson 8 in FFL. Should we go back through GR2 & review until we get through...

Thanks everyone! I should have mentioned this would be with a 4th & 6th grader and we probably won’t be doing a full core. It would just be as a supplement. So it sounds like it would work. If I end up doing my 1st grader I will get the workbook.

Literature Guide without Workbooks
Has anyone used any Literature Guides with just the Teacher’s Guide? Like could I read the questions orally and have the kids write their answers on blank paper? Just trying to save a little money where I can....

Thanks so much for your response! I had a chance to actually sit down and go through the placement assessments and I definitely think SC 1 is the perfect fit. Just looking at the first few questions on Level 2 I could easily say, no that would be too hard, and looking at SC C it would be easy. I only...

Where to place dd?
I’m trying to decide what course of action to take with my 6-year-old. I’m hesitant to even label her as “special needs” because I don’t know that is even the case. She excels at math, I wouldn’t say she has any issues with fine motor skills or anything except reading. We have worked our...

Where would you start?
So I have been homeschooling for 6 years now-- I have always been a proponent of the classical method, and have used WTM ideas and curriculum, mixed in with more traditional books. Basically I have been all over the place and the classical method has gotten lost somewhere along the way. This year I...

Re: Switching to Classical Composition
Thanks so much for all your input! It doesn't seem like it would put us too far behind-- or be too remedial-- to start on Fable in 5th grade, and move on to Narrative either later in the year or the next year. Since it is...

Re: Using FFL without DVD
Thanks so much for your quick response! Just wondering, does this same answer apply to the Classical Composition curriculum? I noticed it has a DVD, as well. Can you teach it without?...

Using FFL without DVD
I'm considering a switch to First Form Latin from Latin for Children. I just hate spending so much on one subject (even though, I know it's usually worth the buy). Just wondering if FFL can be used successfully without the Instructional DVD's or do they really "make" the program what it is?...

Switching to Classical Composition
I'm really new to MP- although I've been drooling over the catalog for years but never really bought anything yet. I've been looking through the boards some and considering switching to MP in several areas. This year my dd is in 4th grade and we are using Classical Writing Aesop for composition. It...

I actually already enrolled in a CC community, so we're definately doing that at least this year. And I already bought the MP K Teacher's Manual (used, so it was cheaper), so really I guess at this point I HAVE to make it work. I will probably just use the Language Arts & the Enrichment part of...
