Neuropsych testing
We finally got our neuropsych testing done and the results in hand. The tester was a cool guy who wore a Harley jacket and told us he owns seven dogs. My kid liked him right him. They did Reynolds Intellectual Assessment Scales-Second Edition, Grooved Pegboard Test, Benton Visual Form Discrimination...

Our developmental pediatrician appointment is coming up Thursday. We had a counseling appointment last Thursday, and during it, he got so upset over something that happened last month that she ended up getting the doctor to come in who increased the dosage of his main medication. Then he continued...

Are you getting an an entire week's work done in two hours a day?
We only get math, handwriting, spelling, and literature, sometimes recitation in two hours. Is that about typical?

Update and question
The Sprout got the lead role in his community theater program last fall. They did A Dickens of a Christmas, and he was Scrooge. His singing voice has improved almost exponentially since last year. He is the naked emperor from The Emperor's New Clothes this semester. (He'll wear a union suit for that...

Re: SC 5 & 6 is Here!
Creating Art and Poetry for the Grammar Stage will be used over more than one set of levels, as well, correct?
ETA: I know math, Music, and Latin will be carrying over to 7-8, while science will not. It sounds like spelling and writing will...Last edited by Miah; 12-07-2018, 02:56 PM.

Re: Off Topic: Question about Barton reading
Thank you for the reply. I doubt there will be anything available locally (or even in my state, it's Arkansas afterall). The one local parent group that covers all disabilities is on the case, so if there is, they'll find it.

Off Topic: Question about Barton reading
Asking for a friend who has a child recently diagnosed with dyslexia. Anyone that has used or knows about Barton: Do you know of any financial aid type programs or groups that can help a family gain access to Barton?
Their son is 8 and has autism and several other issues. I know he's...

Re: Whiteboard
We made a large white board for cheap.
I used this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/23-75-in-x-...-Panel/3042205
I had a piece of old paneling that I glued it to, then screwed the paneling to the wall....

Re: We are officially in!
I don't know what state you are in, but if it is Arkansas, then you can just say curriculum: math, science, social studies, reading, language art - Memoria Press. Schedule: 4-5 days/week 34-36 weeks per year. (Or whatever you somewhat plan on)

Re: Rod and staff vs.....???
I didn't want to use Rod and Staff, either. I am a full convert now.
I used Singapore with my older two before discovering Memoria Press. One of them is naturally good at memorizing and math and did quite well with it. When he went back to public...

Re: Weekly Schedules for Children's Assignments
I printed everything out by subject and put it all in a 3 ring binder with subject dividers for my 4th grader in Simply Classical 4 and Rod and Staff 4. He isn't 100% in the CG, and some things he moves faster on than others. The individual...

Re: Anxiety...
My youngest has autism and severe anxiety. He has above average intelligence, but fits very well into SC. He needs the extra practice and multi-sensory activities and the explicit social skills in SC. I think he'll be able to go at the one year pace when he hits 5-6, but...

I'm in, but I have no idea on how the Zoom thing works. Also have a boy in the 9-11 range.
