I'm really glad syllabication is being added. Unfortunately not all students just "get" the more advanced sounds by having them explained while reading and moving on. We really need that explicit instruction in my houseI understand why you wouldn't add all the worksheets and stuff to the...

continuing phonics instruction
Hi I'm back
( Sorry but I tend to disappear as we get into the schooling full speed, especially with a baby this year) In general things have been going well. We've gotten through FSR and are working through the EPS readers from the summer plans and plan to be moving into the 1st 4 weeks...

thanks for the clarification about 5&6. I have those plans already so I'll see how it goes.
don't worryI'm not trying to bridge FSR straight to MP's 2nd grade plans. We'll be doing MP's 1st grade phonics & reading in my dd's "2nd grade" year. So we're still going...

EPS readers sets 5& 6
We will be finishing up FSR D this winter and then moving into the "summer" schedule of readers. I already went through and figured out phonics workbook pages to coordinate since my dd needs the writing to connect the sounds. We're about a year behind on the phonics plans so we'll probably...

Is there any word on the background info for the music selections yet? I'm doing my best googling the pieces and trying to explain them as well as I can but I'm sure he'd do a better job of it.

an odd thing that has helped recitation for my dd was to make flashcards showing the answers. Even though she couldn't read, seeing them seemed to help her remember. At first I'd show them each time I asked the question. Then as we went on, I'd wait for her to answer without showing the card. If it...

As an extra opinion on SRA vs Core Skills books. We started out using SRA but got the Core Skills when they came out to check them out. There are things I like with both books. Honestly, I prefer SRA but it's primarily because my dd needs more practice than what is scheduled with either SRA or Core...

I have the new list of music selections. I really like having the links right in the document! I open the file on my ipad and go right to the musicthis is great!
My only question is, do you have an ETA on the summaries or background info on the pieces?
Thanks!

I also have kids with speech disorders/delays. I was most worried about my currently 4 y/o. she was still completely non-verbal at 2 and she was more than 2 1/2 before she could say dada. She's still young for phonics, specifically, but speech therapy is wonderful! She's made huge progress! I think...

Unfortunately, we also have a small library. Inter-library loan was really hit or miss....Honestly, more miss than hit for me. Either I'd have the book way too early or way too late
Eventually I just decided to buy the books. There are ways to save money like buying used from amazon,...

Have you looked at handwriting without tears? It was developed by OT's. To truly benefit you'll need more than just the workbook but once I actually got the parts, it helped so much with my dd. The speech/OT place (Kaufman children's center) we used to go to even uses it in house with their kids. ...
