Re: R&S Math 3 Multiplication
I think your way of reading/teaching it is fine. That's how I have taught it to 4 of my kids, and no one has had any problems down the road in math. The way in the TM seems backwards to me, too.

Re: Latina Christiana and Greek Myths at half pace
Thank you Jessica and Tanya for replying so quickly.
The luxury of more time to go through less content will be a godsend to my son. I'm so glad you adjusted this pace! Knowing that he is finishing everything in the...Last edited by Zoo Keeper; 09-02-2015, 10:30 AM.

Latina Christiana and Greek Myths at half pace
In the new (not accelerated) schedules for 3rd and 4th grades, LC and Greek Myths are at half pace; what does that mean schedule wise? Does that mean that half the Myths book is covered in 3rd and the other half in fourth? Or is book covered once in 3rd and then reviewed in 4th? How is LC split up...

Compacting R&S math...
My oldest son is going into 6th grade in a few days, and is lined up to use the 5th grade R&S math book (he did well with R&S 4th grade math last year). Back when he was in 1st, we switched around math programs, so he has been a year "behind" since then. My husband would like him...

Amy's explanation using more numbers makes sense....it is simply adding the same numbers in the reverse order that you "normally" think you should...most of us were taught to add down the column...add up the column instead...
Thanks, Amy.

Mollie,
My understanding of "adding up:" pretend you don't already have the answer, and add from the bottom: so start with the 6...6+3=9, then add the 10, you have 19. Same answer you got when add the "normal" way. So your "normal" answer was right....

Just to throw another option out there:
my children have all enjoyed My Picture Bible to See and Share, by V. Gilbert Beers. ISBN: 0882078186. The pictures are lovely paintings, (not cartoons) and done in a style like the Golden Children's Bible.
The stories progress...

Could you do some of the workbook questions orally? Or have him do only half of the writing (he can choose what parts) in a seperate notebook that will have better spacing for his writing? My oldest boy has trouble with many workbooks and staying neat in small spaces. So, I don't make him do the...
