    class length

    I think I read somewhere to plan about 1-1.5 hours per subject in a cottage school. Is that the standard class length? It just seems like a long time for kids to focus and I was wondering how that was dealt with.

    Thanks,

    Ours are 1.5 to 2 hours. K-3 are in contained classrooms all day and teachers cover the "Monday" in the plans, breaking things up as needed for focus, etc. Big kids get a 15 min play break during the 2 hour classes. Little kids get two 30 minute breaks-mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Your class length will be determined by your length of day together and how many courses you want to cover. Class length will then determine how much you get done at school and how much most be completed at home.
