    Question for Cheryl Swope

    Hi Cheryl

In your book Simply Classical page 212
213 and 215 under Schedule at 6:30 and 6:15 pm you list Arithmetic, Counting Games What type of games did you play with your children?

Also did you ever use Numbers with
Button Bear from Abeka? I had an unused copy given to me and I've been
considering using it for add fun and
    fine motor skills.

    Re: Question for Cheryl Swope

    Hi, Sharon.

My favorite game for counting & fine-motor was Hi-Ho Cherry-O. Players place cherries, picked from trees by thin stems, into little pails. We played this often!

We also played Candyland, War (with cards 2-10), and later Chutes & Ladders, Trouble, homemade dice games, and Sorry. For working with higher numbers, we later played Yahtzee, Masterpiece, and Monopoly. There may be better games available now, but those were our favorites.

I'm not familiar with the book you mentioned. Others here might know. If it looks useful, enjoy!

        Hi Cheryl

Thank you for your answer. Right now
my little guy final took interest in the Barrel of Monkeys a relative got him last Christmas. We play with that for
about 20 minutes then I read different stories and books. Some like Millions
of Snowflakes are about counting He
also likes Richard Scarry's poem Box
        Fun.

          Hi Colomama

I'm the Mom to 4 children My first 3
are all adults and were home schooled years ago My last son is 5 and we are about to start SC B. It's been a very difficult year for me since
I unexpectedly lost my husband last
October. Some days we didn't get
everything in the lessons done or it
was easier on me to do them at bed
time. So I'm a little behind from where
I would have original finished with level A.

I think you're in a great spot for Button Bear. My littlest is in SC C and she still enjoys it, but is just barely beyond it.

If I remember correctly, the pictures are outlined with the color intended to color the picture in. My daughter loves that most of the picture is already colored, she doesn't haven't to color too much and she still gets a finished looking picture.

              Hi Colomama

Thank you for your answer. I've had the
book for a while but his fine motor
skills were weak. I watched utensils, crayons and even his toothbrush just
slip out of his hand. I've had him playing with homemade allergy free
play dough, thinking putty, squeezing out wet sponges in the bathtub, squeezing the trigger on the spray bottle to clean his table and squeezing
sand in our indoor sand pool (box).
He can now hold utensils, crayons
and his toothbrush. So I decided to try
              coloring again.
