This is super helpful. I already have kindergarten and first grade enrichment read aloud sets...and I have some time on my hands to figure out which 2nd grade ones I need to purchase.

    Thanks

Re: NEW - SC 3 Science & Enrichment Set

This is SO helpful! However, I have a few questions on some of the selections. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something or misunderstanding the goal!

Week 1 - the book listed is "Follow the Brook to the Ocean". I grabbed the book and skimmed it. It does not seem to answer any of the questions suggested in the enrichment guide. I'm thinking the book from week 5 would fit better? (Oceans). Also, week 5 is really asking more questions about Hurricanes. I was thinking the "Hurricane!" book from one of the enrichment levels in K-2 might be a better fit?

I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a book on electricity. I'm not seeing any of the books that might address some of the questions about electricity in week 6. I do have an Usborne science book that might cover this though.

Week 12-13. Week 12 is Horses! This is good! The next week asks questions about cows and then asks to compare them. I'm wondering if suggesting "Milk from Cow to Carton" in addition to "Is a Camel a Mammal" might be helpful to compare the two? I would think people might have it from either MPK or SC1?

Lastly, in the enrichment guide weeks 15-17 is a progressive set up. However, day 15 has you making a chart. I'm wondering if that shouldn't be moved to week 17, after reading some more of the books in those weeks?

I've only made it to week 18 at this point.

Okay, Christine. It's official. You receive SC 4 components before the copy editor does.

We'll take a look at these suggestions and announce any formal adjustments!

Re: NEW - SC 3 Science & Enrichment Set

Will these titles be added to the main SC 3 Guide? I'm thinking of my Classic Core guides that list the enrichment books, but the discussion questions, etc are in their separate Enrichment Guide per grade level.

Also, will the SC 3 Enrichment Guide be updated to include these books with specific discussion questions? There are already some broad discussion questions, like discuss horses and breeds while reading Paul Revere.

Re: NEW - SC 3 Science & Enrichment Set

We can add the titles to the SC 3 Curriculum Guide as soon as the formatter has time to add them. This is printed in house, so any changes can be made relatively quickly.

We could add more specific discussion questions to the SC Enrichment Guide, but this would need to wait until the next full printing of the SC Enrichment Guide.

That sounds good. I'm just going to write them into my Guide for each week.

I don't really need the discussion questions. After having done as many MP and SC read alouds as I have, I am well versed on forming comprehension questions. I was thinking for others that are newbies. And there are great general questions already in the Enrichment Guide.

Good news, I have 17 of the books already. Yay!
