    Now Customizable - SC Curriculum

Thanks to behind-the-scenes technical work at Memoria Press, Simply Classical Curriculum Levels B, C and 1 can now be customized.

You can view an example here:
Level C. See the "Customize" tab in the upper right-hand corner. This provides the option of switching components needed for math or for phonics (or both). After substituting, any price difference is visible before making the customized purchase.

Note - Level A remains its own unified entity, because all teacher-led components are integrated into read-alouds through the Level A Curriculum Guide.

    We hope this helps!

    Thanks-
    Cheryl

Is there any way for the math and phonics possibilities go beyond Level 1? I know you haven't written beyond Level 1 yet, but could you put in a couple of the regular levels? Or, maybe make it possible to order different math and phonics levels from the regular levels if you call to place the order? If we were to choose to do MP's math and phonics, we still wouldn't be able to order the core package because my son would need math and phonics beyond what is currently available through the customization option since he'd need SCC Level 1 with regular 1st grade level math and phonics (what I'm assuming will be, or will be similar to, SCC Level 2 phonics and math). I wouldn't expect it to be changed just for me, but I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat.

Yes, good point. While we wait for SC 2 and 3, anyone needing substitutions might consider these options:

MATH (with all needed R&S components)
        MP 1 Math
        MP 2 Math
        MP 3 Math

        PHONICS/READING
from MP 1 - Classical Phonics, Core Skills Phonics 2 & 3, Primary Phonics Book
5 (pink - set of 10), Primary Phonics Book 6 (purple - set of 10), Phonics
Lesson Plans, Reading Lesson Plans; Storytime Treasures Teacher's Key &
Student Guide (opt. More Storytime Treasures Teacher's Key & Student Guide)

from MP 2 and higher - Substitute the literature from MP 2 and beyond, as needed. Consider adding the MP 1 & 2 Spelling, as needed.

We'll work on placing options on the SC page. Thanks for the suggestion.

When SC 2 and 3 are complete, we'll change these choices to allow for customization within SC 2 and 3. The SC resources & accompanying SC lesson plans will offer curricular modifications with therapeutic strategies for special needs.

In the meantime, the above may help.

        Thanks-
        Cheryl

            Updates:

When you select the "Customize" option within Levels B, C, or 1 of the Simply Classical Curriculum, you will now see all of your choices.

            Arithmetic
            MP 1 Math and beyond

Note these important distinctions when considering the arithmetic levels:
-SC 1 Math includes "living math" books and visual flash cards not present in MP 1 Math, along with multi-sensory activities embedded in the SC lesson plans to promote learning and improve retention of material.
-MP 1 Math progresses through R&S 1 at twice the pace of SC 1 Math.

            Phonics/Reading
            MP 1 Phonics/Reading

Note that we did not customize higher than MP 1 for these reasons:
-MP 1 offers such comprehensive upper-level phonics, reading comprehension, and fluency practice, we recommend MP 1 phonics/reading for the SC 1 student who reads at a higher level than SC 1.
-If desired, you can supplement with your own free reading or literature selections at a higher level.
-The accompanying MP 2 guides often prove too challenging for our SC students. When SC 2 & SC 3 become available, we will offer these new SC levels for customization.

Additional notes to help a parent decide between SC 1 Phonics/Reading and MP 1 Phonics/Reading:
-SC 1 teaches early phonics and printing more explicitly than MP 1 with sequential VAKT strategies. MP 1 reading assumes a level of fluency and accuracy in both printing and reading.
-If the student is already a good reader, note that we added all of the necessary MP 1 readers (from Little Bear through Miss Rumphius) for children to practice reading with their own "real" books. You receive all of these when you select MP 1 Phonics/Reading.

I have been informed that with any customization -- whether for arithmetic or phonics/reading -- you will automatically receive the Individualized Lesson Plans for the subject you customized, along with the original SC Curriculum Guide.

Level A remains its own self-contained curriculum. Levels B, C, and 1 are now all customizable in the requested ways!

Thanks for voicing the requests -

            Cheryl
