Paragraph!

My son wrote a paragraph!

He wrote three sentences about the Wright brothers. He said he wanted to write another one, but he ran out of room. His spelling was awful, but only of the words he has not learned. His punctuation was correct and he used neat writing.

Earlier this year he struggled to write a sentence. He has dysgraphia amongst many other learning difficulties.

He has been using Simply Classical Writing Book Two. Thank you to the support and encouragement I have received here to give this a go.

Piggybacking on this post (because it’s worth saying, but maybe not worth starting a new thread)...

The literature guides I ordered for MP2/SC? and put on a shelf years ago are finally coming out ❤️ My oldest, 12, is reading “Little House in the Big Woods” for his second quarter novel and I remembered that I had the literature guide. We just finished chapter one and he’s actually engaging and writing down all the definitions and answers to the comprehension questions. That’s huge!

While I was at it, I ordered more literature guides for the younger kids (who are, paradoxically at a higher reading level). They will be doing “Paddington Bear” and “Mister Popper’s Penguins” soon. That might sound like small potatoes, but I’ve been dreaming about reading books together since we started MP 7 years ago (and stopped, and started halfway again). You can basically distill my curriculum goals down to, “I want to read books and do math”. 😄 So this is gratifying. It’s not “a paragraph”, but I’ll take it!
