That would be so great! My daughter is using the cards, as is. She's doing very well with them. I do not see my son doing so well with them, especially since they assume you have done all the verses since Kindergarten. So, I am looking forward to the new cards for my son next year?

Yes, we should be able to update long before your little man reaches 5&6 next year!

I bought the verse flashcards for SC 5/6 (not sure if they're actually listed to buy, but I bought them). Well, they didn't match the SC verses. SC verses were shortened, which was excellent for us. I see they are listed for 7/8...are we moving away from abbreviated verses in this level?

        Good morning, Colomama.

Thanks to your inquiry, we have created SC 5&6 Review Cards for our SC 5&6 memory verses!

These now come with the Curriculum Manuals for SC 5&6 in the Appendix for easy review.

For anyone reading … We will continue to make available the original MP Memory Verse cards for both SC 5&6 and SC 7&8, as some students may tackle the full load of memory work in MP Christian Studies.

For the sake of most of our Simply Classical students, we have reduced the memory work while keeping key, contextual verses to learn by heart. Now the Curriculum Manual includes Review Cards for these verses. We will follow this pattern in SC 7&8.

If you purchased your SC 5&6 Curriculum Manual directly from us you should have received an automatic download called "SC 5&6 Reproducible Pages." This PDF has been updated with these Memory Verse cards. To access that download just login to your account at MemoriaPress.com and then click on "Downloads."

You're asking about SC 7&8 read-alouds, correct? If yes, look for these and all other 7&8 items when Memoria Press releases Levels 7&8 in full!

Thank you for this list! I spied the R&S 4 Grammar books in the "system" when searching for some math 2 workbooks. I'm wondering if this means you are *very* close to releasing 7/8? 😀

                          Hi Cheryl,

Was wondering if I could get insight on the R&S selections with this new SC 7&8 level coming out soon. Can you help me understand better the preference of the R&S spelling over, say, moving into the Spelling Workout? If my son is doing ok in Spelling Workout E, would he possibly move into R&S Spelling 4 or R&S Spelling 5 if I were to decide to switch over?

Does the selection of the R&S English 4 mean you are moving away from using the EGR books in the future SC levels? The R&S English is a LOT of work in each lesson I noticed.

Do you envision using the R&S Spelling and English books for each of the following SC levels? Moving into the level 5 books in SC 9/10?

Given my sons older age for the level of work he is doing, I do feel that I need to analyze the best next steps for him, a path that helps remediate his challenges in comprehension and oral/written expression. (Although he appears to be an okay speller, and even appears to have a decent grasp of grammar and punctuation. In the same way he’s an intuitive speller, he appears to have an intuition with grammar and punctuation .....somewhat.)

Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.

Hi, Susan. These are reasonable questions.

Spelling -- R&S may have some advantages over SWO for some of our Simply Classical students, especially those who do not need large reading passages to accompany spelling lessons, or those for whom lists of misspelled words might hinder progress. However, if your son is making good strides with SWO, I see no compelling reason to switch him.

English -- We plan to review EGR I in SC 7&8 and resume EGR II to coordinate with FFL in SC 9&10. At the request of many, this year in SC 7&8 we are focusing on the basics of composition, grammar, and the mechanics of writing in R&S's characteristically systematic way before embarking next year (possibly) on Classical Composition: Fable.

                            I hope that helps --

                            Cheryl

Okay, thank you for clarifying these things Cheryl. I will look again at samples online of the R&S spelling 5 to see if that would be a good next step for him. In SWO we do usually read that long passage, but not always. As for the misspelled words section, we have always ignored that based on Cheryl Lowe’s strong advice to do so.

                              I appreciate your insight!
