SC 5-6 Literature (2 year pace)

I'd like to offer some constructive criticism of the Literature section of this lesson plan. I am not a fan of how it has the student read more than one chapter of the book (before looking at the reading notes or vocabulary in the student guide), and then goes back to work on each of the chapters that has been read using the student guide. Here is an example of the first 10 days of SC 5:

Day 1 - Book Intro, Read Chapter 1
    Day 2 - Read Chapters 2-3
    Day 3 - Student Guide Lesson 1 & Read Chapter 1
    Day 4 - Student Guide Lesson 1
    Day 5 - Student Guide Lesson 2 & Read Chapter 2
    Day 6 - Student Guide Lesson 2
    Day 7 - Student Guide Lesson 3 & Read Chapter 3
    Day 8 - Student Guide Lesson 3
    Day 9 - Free Reading
    Day 10 - Free Reading

I suspect that the goal is to get in more reading, but the sequence is confusing. I'd much prefer to have more days devoted to each chapter than to be reading multiple chapters before the student guides are cracked open. Something that looks like this:

Day 1 - Book Intro, Lesson 1 (Reading Notes & Vocabulary) & Read Chapter 1 (all or alternating, or perhaps half for those who need more time)
    Day 2 - Re-read or finish Chapter 1
    Day 3 - Student Guide Lesson 1
Day 4 - Student Guide Lesson 2, Read Chapter 2
    Day 5 - Re-read or finish Chapter 2
    Day 6 - Student Guide Lesson 2
    Day 7 - Student Guide Lesson 3 & Read Chapter 3
    Day 8 - Re-read or finish Chapter 3
    Day 9 - Student Guide Lesson 3
    Day 10 - Free Reading

Just my 2 cents about the nearly perfect lesson plans :-)

Thank YOU. The discussions here and on FB SC Families were very helpful, but you provided the template for moving forward.

Anticipating the question by some …
