    Clarifying Latin lesson plan discrepancy

Can someone from MA comment on how MA compares to MP lesson plans for Third and Fourth Form Latin? I believe Third Form homeschool lesson plans do not finish Third Form, but save some lessons to do at the start of Fourth Form and then don’t fully finish Fourth Form. It sounds like MA classes complete Third Form and don’t save any lessons for Fourth Form. Does this mean a student cannot transition to MA between Third and Fourth Form without some extra summer work? What can be done to reconcile this difference? Can MP put together a “summer bridge” for those who finished Third Form lesson plans per the 7th grade manual who wish to make use of MA class for Fourth Form? Can something be added to the Fourth Form description page pointing out that MP plans don’t actually finish Third Form so students need to finish over the summer? I know the page says students must have completed Third Form, but there seems to be some confusing as to if this means completing Third Form lesson plans or actually completing the entire book even the parts that aren’t scheduled in the lesson plans. Thank you.

I am very curious to hear the response. My son was in fourth form with MPOA the year after they changed the homeschool lesson plans and it was a chaotic first week. Fourth form went ahead from the beginning. He had been in MPOA for third so he had finished the book. I don’t remember what they did for the kids who got there and had only finished the shortened the third form homeschool plans. Honestly, I would have been annoyed if they had repeated the end of third and not finished fourth form. It’s been four years now, so there should be a plan in place.

Hello! Great question. You are correct; we do finish Third Form at MA. Students can jump into MA for Fourth Form; it would just require that they finish the few final lessons in Third Form over the summer. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thank you! Jessica
