    European history II

At one point there was a class of European history II. Will this class be taught again in Memoria Academy? I would love my kid to take European history I and European history II through MA

Hello! The Academy is not going to offer European History II in 2023-24. Thank you!

Every time Euro II was offered, less than a handful registered in spite of two Euro I classes the previous year. If MA plans to offer it again, perhaps a schedule could be published so people can plan around that? Even every 3 years would allow people to get Euro I in first. Or maybe a one year pace that is not AP?

I think this is a great idea. The higher level classical studies classes were the same. They never had enough students to run, but publishing a schedule seems to have helped people plan and allow a wider variety of options.

This is interesting. Was Euro 1 required for Euro 2? It seems to me if people are picking just one Euro History class, many would want the one on more modern times.
Maybe the class title hindered it? Maybe people thought they had to take two years of Euro and decided after one to not take more? I wonder if called them by dates covered like colleges so if you would get more interest in the more modern one?

I honestly do not recall if it was required, but I assume it would have been stated similarly to this description of American History II:

Prerequisites: Completion of American History I, or the equivalent content and time periods. Students should be able to read a college-level textbook, be willing to work hard, and be able to write grammatically correct, complete sentences.

Great questions and suggestions here. We found that most students who completed European History I continued on to take AP European History, which is a more natural track for those really interested in European history. European History II just hasn't been popular enough to keep in the Modern History offerings, even on a rotating basis.

Regarding the prerequisites for European History II, completion of European History I or a course covering the equivalent time period was recommended.

              Thank you!
