pschaeffer Are you open to requests? I would love to see Memoria offer a Self Paced version of the R&S levels, something like what you offer for your Latin and Classical Composition series. In our hybrid program, where we have multiple grade classes starting at grade 3, it would be wonderful to allow students to receive math lesson instruction at their own levels simultaneously. Then, our live teacher could still supervise practice work, correct homework, and do oral drill with everyone.
In small cottage schools that meet 1 or 2 times a week and combine levels, this could allow students at various levels to receive math instruction at home, and then turn in homework to their live teacher, take tests with their live teachers, and do oral drills, flash cards games, etc. when they meet together..
I assume self paced classes will be different than the prerecorded teacher streaming/dvd that you already offer for Latin, logic and many other subject including the new First Start Reading instruction. I am guessing that a self paced course includes more than what is offered on those DVDs. Will the student have a teacher who assigns homework and actually grades the homework and answer questions? One of the biggest draws I have to online classes is someone else assigning the essays in literature and then that same someone else actually grading them! One of the biggest drawbacks I have with live online classes is having to be in that seat at that time every week, especially when the only offered time conflicts with other time commitments like co-op or sports training or piano lessons. These self paced classes sound like a dream!
big question- would self pace classes qualify for the diploma program?

I wonder if MPOA could offer an option for a fee based grading? Meaning --- it's $X for the self paced course and $X for grading. Homeschool Connections does something similar with their self paced courses.
2023-24 Year 13 of homeschooling with MP

DD2 - 17 - SENIOR - HLCS Louisville, dual credit classes, theater, equestrian
DS3 - 15 FRESHMAN - HLCS Louisville, soccer/tennis/aviation -dyslexia &dysgraphia

What y'all are suggesting is phase two of the self-paced courses. We are going to get them up in a similar format to what they were when we had "Independent Study" courses, and then start tackling more of these aspects that require human feedback afterwards.
Peace,
Paul

The independent study courses with everything in one place and the self grading quizzes are super helpful as is. I'm looking forward to having that as an option for some things!
