Classical Studies 1 for 7th grader

My child will be on track to take Classical Studies 1 in 7th grade. For whatever reason (lack of confidence ?) I feel like 7th grade is young to tackle these books. I am curious if anyone wants to share how their 7th grader fared (assuming the student had all the courses leading up to it and did well in them).

On one hand there is no harm in waiting a year or two for this course. On the other hand there is so much great literature to get to, it is not as if we will run out if we do Iliad and Odyssey in 7th. 🙂

My daughter was on the accelerated track, and she took this course as a young 7th grader and did fine. My son is on the moderated track, and he will take it in 8th. I think it depends on the child, but my daughter was well prepared for the course.
