  • Comparing The Novel and Short Story literature options for a 9th grader

My rising 9th grader is interested in taking one of the literature classes on MPOA. She is not interested in the 9th grade package/Medieval literature so we are exploring the Short Story and Novel classes. For those who have experience with these, is one more or less difficult than the other? Is there more writing involved with one than the other? TIA for any insights or experiences

    Hi Ally,

The Novel class is more difficult in some ways because of the quantity of books, and the writing requirements are different. The Medieval Literature class has more short essays and the student guides. I would say, on the whole, that the Novel class is the more difficult of the two, with some more discussion-based writing assignments each week.

    Does this help?
