    Latin practice for summer

We are finishing up LC for a third and fourth grader. They are doing great! However, we really focused on Latin this year, and we used all of the exercises in the LC textbook, Ludere, and Review Worksheets. Does MP publish a book for extra translation practice, especially for use in the summers between the various Latin courses? If not, this is something I am suggesting! It doesn't have to be complicated, even just a downloadable pdf with extra practice for each summer would be fabulous. Thanks!

Good for you! It's awesome that you put that much time into Latin this year. It will make the transition into First Form easier.

We don't have extra practice sheets at this time, but it is something I will put on the wish list. In the meantime, we send our students home with their flashcards and have them drill vocabulary all summer. This is the best thing to concentrate on since there will be much new vocabulary in FFL and a good, solid handle on the LC vocab will serve students well. And I don't know if you have the LC desk charts, but those would be a good way to reinforce the grammar forms orally. And you could have your students write them on a whiteboard regularly too.

If you want written work, my advice would be to purchase another Review Worksheets book (they are cheap) and work back through it. But we don't require any written work in the summer of our students. FFL reviews everything learned in LC, so no worries there. But whatever you do will make Latin easier for your students, so bravo in taking this seriously!

We don't have the desk charts, but we do have the wall charts. I have not put them up yet, but it is something we should do. (Our walls got crowded with timeline, Ancient civilization maps, large modern maps and a music history timeline.) Maybe the desk charts would be better. Yes, we plan to reinforce flash cards all summer. I put them all into Quizlet too, along with all of the translations from the Review Worksheets. I'm just a couple of chapters behind, but by the end of the year I will have them all in there. I believe I left it public, so anyone else who wants to use them is welcome to. Translation practice is really the only thing I think would be beneficial to have extra practice published by experts. (I'm afraid I might get it wrong if I do it myself, especially as we advance through the Forms.)
