And so helpful to be able to see in one glance exactly where they are in every subject. If we have extra time, or if we are pinched for time, I can make a quick decision on where to focus the effort.

For kids who are all over the place in a curriculum guide, a chart like this can be very helpful to see their progress. It takes 10 minutes to create, but has been immensely motivating to get to color in another box!

I love that chart you came up with! What a simple, practical way to keep track. Do you still have your dc read the plans from the CG as well, or do you just use the manual as your own checklist while they use the chart? If they don't refer to the CG, how do they know what subject to do each day? We are also all over the place in our CG and I'm trying to figure out the best way to give kids their assignments.

Angela - yes, they still use the CGs some - especially at the beginning of the year as we are learning what they need to do for each subject. By the end of the first quarter, they probably could mostly go off my chart, because the lessons follow such a consistent rhythm. The chart, though, is distinctly mine - only I am allowed to color in a box (which ensures that it is checked/corrected first).

We strive to make some progress in Latin and math each day, but most every other subject ebbs and flows with the chaos of life. As much as I'd love to have a consistent school-like schedule, we just don't right now. This year we've had 2 moves, 6 road trips, 3 rounds of illness, and all the disruption of routine that goes with it. The chart allows to me to quick glance and see what (after Latin and math) they need to do next. Also, I have some kids that would rather knock out big chunks of a subject, and another that is overwhelmed by big chunks of anything. With the chart, I can easily assign a kid "lessons 8&9 in insects" or whatever suits the available time/ temperament of the kid.

Everyone, thank you again for this list. I've rounded it up, combined similar points, and made what seems to be a workable four page document of it all. Once I get it totally wrapped up (and probably next week after the convention), I'll try to post it here as the beginning of more of a resource for those new to MP.

YOU ALL are the one of the reasons I've said it will be OK to learn to use multiple cores. One is never alone. YOU ALL are here to help. <3

This is such a helpful resource! I'm going to print a couple off for the families at our CS who are juggling 2-5 cores, and are all new to MP. Thanks for pulling this together! Hope TTD is going great!
