I'm putting together my order for summer/fall and could use your ideas, friends.
My youngest little fellow did his first run through of MP K this year as a 4-5 year old because I needed him with me at our cottage school all day on Mondays. He turned 5 in late October. He's had a fantastic year and has greatly exceeded my expectations with reading and arithmetic. (His teachers were amazing!) That said, he is not a candidate for first grade next fall.
Because of this, I won't be doing the K to 1st summer bridge lessons with him. His reading is slow and the amount of K language arts work is getting too long for him at this point in the school year (Week 29). Next spring I expect he'll be breezing through that list of work every day.
Can you all help me brainstorm a tiny bit of work we can focus on through this summer to stay fresh without pressing forward much for reading and math? There might be things from Simply Classical as well that would be a perfect fit. I'm just not that familiar with the options. Here's what I had in mind:
-phonics flashcards we encountered so far through K
-math fact flashcards from K (plus a little money and clock work)
-Moose Moments books? I haven't seen these in person.
A few things to stay fresh on penmanship muscles:
-Numbers and Colors book from Jr. K (https://www.memoriapress.com/curricu...umbers-colors/ They loved this this year in our K cottage school class)
-Alphabet Coloring Book
-Numbers Coloring Book
My plan is to read a little, write a little, and do a few math problems each day. We always have plenty of stories around on audio and in the van.
Anything else that would be a good fit? Corrections to my list? I am looking for something light to make part of our summer mornings. We generally stop all formal curricula in the summer, because this mama needs a break.
