Which math for child who has completed Saxon Math Course 2?

Which math for child who has completed Saxon Math Course 2? Not sure if Pre-Algebra or Algebra 1. When I look at the pre-algebra book, it looks like stuff he's done this year. He's currently in 7th grade and this would be for 8th grade next year. Thank you!

PS Saxon Math Course 2 is on-level 7th grade math. Not 2nd grade. It is similar to 8/7 I believe.

I'm not familiar with that track of Saxon so I have no idea what is covered in Course 2. But if it is equivalent to 8/7 you can go directly to algebra 1 for an A-B student. A C student should probably do pre-algebra.
Has he mastered percents, ratios, rates, fractions and learned how to solve simple, single variable equations and plot points on the Cartesian coordinate system? If so he is ready for algebra.

Yes, after searching online, it does look like Math Course 2 is approximately the same as 8/7. He's a low B to Mid-B student in it. 82-85. (Could be higher if he were more regular about turning in his work) I'll see about giving him the placement test for Saxon (homeschool versions) that I found online and match it up to the equivalents for MP that you gave. Thank you!!! This is very helpful...
