    Books, glorious books!

We just had BOX DAY here as my mom was visiting from the states and brought our curriculum for next year.

    1. I wasn't able to purchase the complete 1st and 2nd read aloud sets, but I did purchase quite a few of the titles used from thrifbooks.com My girls are in heaven! We love each book we have read so far (no, we couldn't save them until Fall). I'm very impressed with the selection and quality. My MIL had recently sent us some pictures books that her friend donated for us, and my girls haven't looked twice at them, as they are nowhere near MP quality and are what our friend Charlotte would refer to as twaddle It is so encouraging to see my children developing a taste for truth, beauty and goodness even at their young ages. I'll be purging our book shelves of twaddle during rest time this week!

    2. I've caught my 6 year old lovingly paging through next year's math books (twice), and my current K-er is DYING to bust open that cursive book. Storing all this up for next February when the newness will have worn off

Rejoicing with you! We were overseas for years and years. I'm not sure what I looked forward to more, seeing our parents again or opening their suitcases full of treasures! Getting books from the US is so precious when you're in a non-English location with limited availability and no public library.

I am so conflicted!!! I just got my shipping notice from MP....our books are on their way!!! Hooray!!!

      But they will arrive.....Friday.
      Good Friday.
Oh dear, too much joy for THAT day!
This will be a fitting Triduum: boxes that wait to be opened until Easter Monday! Maybe I can talk the kids into box opening instead of Easter egg hunt....hmmmm. Probably not.

Sarah, I've got the solution for you.

Your hubby secretly unpacks the books the night before and hides them around the house. You know, behind the couch cushion, on the chair seat tucked under the table, on the mantle, etc. Easter morning there's your empty box (with a chocolate bunny in it of course) next to all of the baskets. He says, "Go" and all of you light off to find your treasures. The kids are hunting eggs, you're hunting books.

        Yay!

You have taken it to another level! I was going to say something sly about a hunt for Sarah, but you got it!

              This was fun to read!

Jealous! I don't get to order until Sodalitas. New books arriving now would be bad for finishing up our current set. Have fun!

Yes, Sarah! I want to see photos of book-mageddon at your place. We are FINALLY taking spring break this week and one of my goals is to put together next year's order while I have some mental space to plan.

Dreaming of shipping notifications and box day in the meantime,

                    Re: Books, glorious books!

Well, they were first scheduled to be Saturday, and most of them did not actually arrive until today! So we did a traditional egg hunt in the yard and it was beautiful!

But I will post a picture after I get them all set up on Friday for our Moms' Day here in Fredericksburg. For anyone wondering - there is still time to come! All day Saturday! Going to be great!

And yes, it is true: when you have kids from tenth grade through Preschool, you essentially have ALL the books in the entire MP catalog and can host your own conference!

Highlands Latin Fredericksburg offers unique support to homeschooling families, meeting for instruction 1-day per week in a traditional classroom.
