An Apology...

I received an infraction notice today indicating that I offended another forum member by posting about the Delectare program. Since members often post about cottage schools I thought this would be alright? Delectare is not an income-producing endeavor; it is an outreach to other MP families. While we will be charging for next year, it is with the consent of current families so we can license a high-quality video conference platform. If additional "tuition" funds are not available after paying for the licensing costs, my husband and I will be paying out of pocket for additional program-related expenses. Delectare is our family's ministry to fellow homeschoolers.

If my post was out of line I apologize. I have a limited forum (no pun intended) where I can reach MP families who may be interested in the program either for their students or for volunteering. Can someone let me know what the guidelines are for this kind of thing?

I'm not sure how this happened. Honestly, I didn't know there was such a thing! Maybe it's some kind of automatic check?

Anyway, we are fine with your advertising on the forum. We know that you are helping MP users, and we don't consider Delectare as competition at all.

We'll check into this further tomorrow, but I wanted you to know that we aren't at all offended, and we want to support you in your endeavor. We are happy that a group of homeschoolers can get together and discuss our books. It makes the experience richer for all!

As a moderator for two of the discussion groups, I can attest to the fact that Jennifer and her husband are doing a real service to the MP community. These discussion groups are a real blessing to our family. I see how much work Jennifer puts into this, and I am sure I only know a fraction of what she does. I also know that Jennifer and her husband are taking on a good portion of this expense to make this happen. Thanks Tanya and Michael for being there to support her!

Could you forward the infraction notice you received to [email protected]? You can also PM it to me. We'd definitely like to figure out what happened!

I can't find the notice either! When I logged in last night, the Notifications in the top right of the screen said that I had a new message. When I clicked on it, instead of saying "New Message" it said "Reputation Comment" and said that it was in relation to the Delectare post and said that I had a certain number of reputation points but didn't give any further information. I didn't know what it meant so I searched the Help FAQ's and it said that people could flag your reputation on the forum. I know there's an infraction points system that shows up on all our profiles, so putting two and two together it looked like someone had flagged me negatively.

I got a PM this morning from another member that I think explains the whole thing: she had tried giving me a "reputation boost" yesterday. Either the wrong button got clicked or I interpreted the vague notice incorrectly. Good grief...I feel very stupid...I didn't want to cause a ruckus!
