Just bumping this instructional thread. I've noticed lots of New to MP families and this helps us get to know you!

Re: Forum-friend Request: Consider Adding a Signature?

      Hi everyone!
I'm new around here, so I thought I'd say hello and introduce myself a bit, and see if my new signature works.

I have three boys, ages 9, 8, and 4 - and we are mostly using MP for the first time this year. Our only major changes are Singapore Math since we already have it and it is working, and adding catechism/saint/virtue study.

I've been tutoring/homeschooling other people's kids for more than 15 years, especially Latin. (I studied Latin from 6th grade on, and majored in Classics). I stumbled across First Form Latin not too long ago, which I *really* love. Although I had heard of Memoria Press before, it was FFL that caused me to take a closer look.

We started school a month ago (we try to finish our school year before Holy Week), but are rebooting with almost all MP this week. The forum has been very helpful as I eagerly awaited my box of goodies, and we jump in on Monday!

Hi and Welcome Amanda! Just chiming in to say I have 3 boys exactly the same ages as yours and doing the same cores! How fun 😃

Bumping this up for the new faces!

I'm bumping this up as it seems new users show up daily (welcome!) and often some of our first responses are "tell us more about the ages of your children, or their general grades," etc. There are complete instructions on adding a signature in the first post. There's no need to divulge more than you are comfortable with. Just know that it really helps readers know more about you, see your experience, and "hear" better your words from your perspective. To those of you who've had a signature for a while and need to update/edit info, this is your invitation to do so as well!

            Thanks for considering it!

Re: Forum-friend Request: Consider Adding a Signature?

Bumping this up. Signatures are so helpful to discussions! One of the most common things I post of the forum is, "Would you mind telling us the ages and approximate grades of your children?"

Here's the initial request with instructions for those (many) who are new! Welcome!

              .................................................

As I read through threads I often think how much of what we are discussing and the experience and advice we offer is best considered across the backdrop of our specific families. How many kids? How many kids in formal curricula? What ages? What cores? Is your oldest child(ren) married with a child(ren) of their own? Is your oldest child going on 7?*

To those of you who do not have a set signature, would you consider adding one? I do think it would greatly contribute to the conversations we have amongst ourselves, particularly when we are speaking about what we are doing in our homes. Please feel free to keep it as vague as you like--DC, 10, Core 5, for example. I try to keep you all straight but I confess I get mixed up over time! The best way to fix all this is to put you on planes and trains to the Sodalitas Gathering, but until then...

              Here's how:*

              On the menu above, click*Forum*Actions
then,*Edit Profile*from the drop down menu
On that page, in the second-down left column menu, selectEdit Signature*
Once you've edited and previewed the signature, you must click*Save Signature

ETA: Now, once your signature is set up, one more step. On the same page, look back in the same left-hand menu box, but this time choose*General Settings. Under the heading of Thread Display Options*select*Show Signatures*to see other's signatures. Scroll to the bottom and click*Save Changes*to wrap things up. Thank you, friends, for pointing this out!

              Thanks for considering this!
              Festina lentē,

Bumping this up! If you haven't already, please consider adding a signature to your user profile. It helps us all know more about your current situation when you are taking, asking, and answering, and saves you from having to include ages and cores each time.

Directions are in the posts in this thread.
                              Many thanks!
