Re: OT: A personal note
I don't know your budget for things, but we had prayer cards printed for our oldest two for Confirmation last weekend. We used personalizedprayercards.com and were very pleased. You can use one of their cards or use your own artwork. 100 cards were like $50 and they were very high quality and thick. I swear they actually shipped more than what I ordered, but I didn't count each card.

Re: OT: A personal note
Hi all!
I am attaching two files of the front and back of a prayer card we made up for Nicholas Benjamin. Through the suggestion of a dear friend, we have chosen to ask Blessed Miguel Augustin Pro to be a prayer warrior for Nicholas. Blessed Miguel is still in need of a miracle for his canonization. We would love to have a miracle for Nicholas. So these are the prayers that we as a family are praying each day, and that we are handing out to family and friends. The reasons we chose him are pretty awesome, and already
we have received many relics of him to have here with us during this time.
I did not have time to figure out how to do them double-sided, so they are two separate files. We are going to print them out today, lay them back to back, and laminate them. For anyone interested

Re: OT: A personal note
Jen,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your son. What was his name? I would like to add him to my prayers. There are several little ones I know of now, almost like a play group in heaven!
And yes, God has been good to me that from the beginning I have had a sense of precariousness...if that makes sense. So I am still just waking up every day being thankful for another day with Nicholas. God bless you for your loss as well

Re: OT: A personal note
Sarah,
We lost our 6th child to Trisomy 13. He died in utero and I was far enough along that I was induced and went through labor with him. Even having walked the path you are on, I don't have any advice except to really slow down and take in the time that you have with him for however long you are given.
I'll pray for you and your family.

Re: OT: A personal note
I have a baby St James Nicholas that I ask for prayers! He was the fourth child of a relative-of-a-friend. When I headed the prayer ministry at my old parish, we prayed for him from the time he was diagnosed (osteogenesis imperfecta, a brittle bone disease) until he was born. He was never "supposed" to make it. His condition was so severe, no baby with the same grade of his diagnosis had ever been born alive. But all along his journey to life, we prayed and God answered. (i.e. Ultrasounds showed no broken bones in his head, protecting his brain from damage; his heart was tilted slightly, allowing his lungs to form and not be crushed by his broken ribs... Every time the doctors gave Maria, his mom, "bad news" we took it to prayer and God moved.)
So, right on time, he was born, nursed, baptized, confirmed and loved. He passed away peacefully in his parents arms at two days old. He touched SO MANY lives with his sweet little life. I will remember him always. Such an honor to be part of his journey.
Here is a video of his mom and dad, from Be Not Afraid ministries (a non-profit Catholic organization that counsels prospective parents of children with a poor prenatal diagnosis):

Sarah--you, sweet baby Nicholas, and your family will be in my prayers.

Re: OT: A personal note
Good for you, Sarah. I think a little breaking of protocol was in order this time.
I have to share with you a Nicholas story. When I was in Jr. High, I had picked out my ideal baby names. I was going to have a Nicholas and a Rebecca (this shows more about my controlling nature than my maternal instinct, ha, ha).
Fast forward 15+ years when it was time to choose the name of the alien inhabiting my abdomen. It was at that moment that Nicholas went completely off the table since it makes a strange combination with my last name. The poor baby would have been saddled with the moniker "Nick Cole". Say that fast and you will see what I mean.
Lovely name. I generally cheer little Nicholases on since it was (is) my Perfect Boy's Name of my youth. Will pray for your little Nickolas in my daily devotions.

What a sweet name for a sweet boy. We will change our prayers to "Baby Nicholas" rather than "Miss Sarah's Baby". <3Leave a comment:

Re: OT: A personal note
Thank you all so very much. We broke protocol and decided to find out the gender early this time, which made for a lot of excitement yesterday morning. And then in the evening we named the baby. So, keeping in mind we have six girls and one 12 year old boy.....the result is: Nicholas Benjamin.Everyone is so excited! So now there is a name to go with all of those prayers. God bless you all,
AMDG,
