Just for fun - Latin motto suggestions

Every year I order "school" t-shirts for my crew and Grandma. I include a latin saying that becomes our motto for the year. Last year it was Ora Et Labora. I'm designing this year's shirt and thought it would be fun to ask for suggestions!

Thanks for posting that, Sarah. I always wondered what your sign-off meant

              Latin motto

              "Stat Crux Dum Volvitur Orbis"
(The cross stands while the earth is turning.) Actually had a great discussion with my kids about this one. Each week or two I put up a different Latin proverb or Bible verse and have them try to figure it out. The Latin dictionary can only be used as a last resort, if they have truly given up. My husband likes to try as well, and he has only studied French.
              "Optimus Magister Bonus Liber"
(The best teacher is a good book.)
"AMDG" is what my upper elementary and older children have to write at the top of each page of school work. The younger ones write JMJ at the top.
I love "Fides et Ratio." Also "Non Praevalebunt."
              Blessings,
              Jude

Sarah - we are building a house and I'm going to stamp/draw AMDG into the concrete at the thresholds, if I can figure out how best to do it.

Jude - I learn so much from your posts, thanks for mentoring!

I'd love to see this thread keep going.

                      Love all these ideas!

I am stealing some, ha. Michelle, T-shirts sound fun! I love the weekly challenge phrase, Jude. Sarah, I have always wondered to what AMDG meant. I love it and especially like the idea of writing this at the top of the kid's papers for a lovely reminder. In fact, I may just have to make a fun little sign for our homeschool room

                        Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

On a sidetrack: Last night my husband and I were having to lecture my soon-to-be twelve-year-old on his recent laziness, and AMDG came up during the course of the discussion. We had to remind him that it applies not only to school work, but also to all areas of our lives. We need to be doing all things at all times for the greater glory of God, even the menial tasks. I'd like to stamp it on my son's forehead in reverse, so he would see it every time he looked in the mirror.
Stat Crux Dum Volvitur Orbis came up during a discussion about how the world is changing so rapidly, and we are surrounded by a society that considers our beliefs unreasonable and even superstitious. We talked about how the truths of Christ are eternal and the benchmark by which we judge whatever else is going on in the world.
I think perhaps next week will need to be "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi" to continue along this same path.
                        Blessings,
                        Jude

Also I am looking for a name for a little Coop I am hosting that is just once every other week, we do the enrichment for K (it's 4-6 yo's) I'm hoping to eventually get them all in Latin and Memoria Press ;-). So sorry for the delay, Maggie! My five kiddos have been bouncing a tummy bug back and forth for two weeks.

I had "Veritas et Fides" printed on our shirts this year. (Truth and Faith). I felt like simple was best.

                              God bless your co-op efforts!
