Thank you. Is Core Skills entirely new to MP? I don't see any mention of it on the web site. Do you have a link to the announcement? Was there any mention of when this change might go live on the web site?

It's been discussed on the forum a couple times. Here's the most recent with a little bit of timing info.

Basically, the company for SRA doesn't like MP selling it so they're moving to a different one. Core skills is what they chose to replace it. They won't have real plans etc set up til the highlands teachers are done and come to work for the MP side of things.

        Hope that helps!

Thank you. Is there a similar thread for Kindergarten? I can't decide if I just want to bite the bullet and order now or wait a couple of weeks.

I think unless you need your K stuff right away, I'd wait.

The current setup isn't at all bad. You can always get updated lesson plans. If you wanted to switch to the other phonics workbooks after you order, you can order those parts when they come out.

If you call Monday , they may be able to tell you when you can order the new workbook even without the newer plans and then just replace the plans when they're available.

Just another thoght to hopefully ease any angst this is causing. The current K plan with SRA iincluded was still great, and switching the phonics workbook will not substantially alter the overall program. If you need to purchase now, you would be using the same k program that many of us have all used and been thrilled with. Next year, when you are ready for first, the new books will be all figured out, and your child can simply continue the solid foundation set in K. I am certain the choice they made for what text to use was to make the transition as smooth as possible.

We're using the plans with SRA. I used half of Kinder with one of mine, and the full Kinder with the next one. Since I ordered for my next one down awhile ago, I'm just going to stick with the set with SRA.

                          Blessings,
                          Kami

                            Hello.

This is all accurate information. The teachers are in here this week, reading phonics books and beginning to make the switch. But I will reiterate that if you are ready to begin kindergarten now, just go ahead and use SRA. The only reason we are switching from it is that we can't get it from McGraw-Hill to distribute. The content is very good and makes a fine supplement to our First Start Reading phonics program.

                            Regards,

                            Tanya
