Starting MId-Year

Hi everyone, I have a quick question that I'm hoping someone can clarify for me.

I hope to start my 12 year old Dd (grade 6) with Memoria's Grade 6 in the next few weeks, and I'm wondering if taking a summer break "mid core" is a reasonable thing to do, or if a large break would be an obstacle in the fall. If anyone could let me know their thoughts/opinion on this, I'll be grateful. She is eager to jump in, and so am I!

Naturally I would ensure that we are not "mid-novel", although we might be "mid-latin"... flash card review all summer most definitely!

I can only speak with experience up through fourth grade but I think it would mostly depend how long your break will be. There's a natural break around Christmas each year for regular users. If I can remember correctly it's after week 15. Perhaps you could shoot to complete 15 weeks before breaking? I think you'll know well by that time what will need some review over the break and what other things can float a bit. You can do your review casually over the summer, perhaps even simply reviewing recitation or facts to know with something like Quizlet online (free: www.quizlet.com). My kids love Quizlet for Latin vocab/grammar matching and your daughter is old enough to make her own study sets there so that'll be an extra layer of learning!
