First Form Latin Flash Cards Confusing?!

We finished up Latina Christiana and it went really well, The flash cards were super helpful. Now with First Form Latin the flashcards are confusing. Instead of just having AMO on the front it has 4 different Latin words and I am not sure what they mean. The manual is not really telling me anything and it's confusing to use because it feels stressful to have to memorize more or know more than just what the lesson is talking about. I assume that maybe these are tenses for future lessons, but it's really confusing. I may be just not seeing the answer that is right in front of me. I just really loved the flashcards from LC and these just through me for a loop with being different. I also miss having flash cards for the personal endings and case endings. That was so helpful to be able to just review that and this set does not have that.

So can someone tell me how to understand the Latin on the front of the cards and how to teach using them. These are the second edition flashcards for First Form Latin.

    Hi Nancy Ann,

Congrats on finishing up LC! The four parts of amo you are seeing are the four principal parts. The principal parts will be introduced during FFL, which is why they are on the flash cards. After it is introduced, saying all four parts is expected. However, until you get to that introduction, you can just ignore the other parts. You can just continue to say “amo; I love.” Soon saying all of the principal parts will become second nature like all of the other Latin recitation.

I’m not sure what edition of FFL flash cards I have, but mine include the grammar. For lesson one and two, I have amo for the first conjugation present tense and imperfect tense on flash cards. If you don’t have these, you can call the office.

    I hope this helps!
