Eighth Grade - Read Alouds or Free Reads?

    Hello,

Are there any recommendations in the curriculum for read alouds or free reads for eighth grade? I am ordering materials now for our next school year (starts beginning of Feb), but COVID has made delivery so slow from the US to Australia I really don't want to wait until my CM arrives to purchase any extra books.

If not, does anyone have any particular recommendations? The curriculum looks like it will be heavy going for my mild-dyslexic, and I don't want to overload him, but I like to encourage him to read books that are not just for "work".

    Thank you,

    Natalie

Here is a resource that we circulate a lot that has been very helpful for finding additional great books for our kids to read. It is a booklist of titles that Martin Cothran put together, and is wonderful. For some reason, I could not upload the file directly, but here is a link to an old post that has the PDF attached to it; just scroll down a little bit.

Also, if you look through the Highlands Latin Summer Reading lists, there are a lot of great suggestions there as well.

Thank you! We have read some of Martin's recommendations before and really enjoyed them. I will check out both lists.
