OT: List of books about western culture?

Hello! This is super out of topic, but was wondering where can I find a good list of reference books about western culture (like a Martin Cochran’s list)? Specifically, I would love to learn how Spain was influenced by it, since that’s part of my heritage. I’ve been fascinated after reading Andrew Kern’s Classical Education book and now Reading through Climbing Parnassus, and it has gotten me thinking about what is the culture (in the sense that Tracy Lee Simmons uses) from which I come from.

I searched in Amazon and nothing worthy came up.

    Thanks in advance!

The master Western Culture "Cothran-esque" (is that a word?) list that comes to mind is the list found in Appendix A of "How to Read a Book" by Mortimer Adler and Charles van Doren. A copy of the listing can be seen here:

    https://www2.latech.edu/~bmagee/201/...ks_etexts.html

Scroll about a third of the way down that page and you will see the list of 137 authors and their works copied from Adler and van Doren.

Someone else will have to help you about a specific book recommendation about how Spain was influenced by Western Culture.
