    Recitation

I'm wondering what's included in Recitation? I'm looking for something pretty general for my kids, but targeting my 7 year old. Code of Conduct, days of the week, months of the year, other worth while general knowledge that she does not pick up on her own!! Not sure if Simply Classical would be a better fit?!
    God Bless,

Hi AJM. The recitations for Simply Classical are available to purchase individually here:

    https://www.memoriapress.com/curricu...-lesson-plans/

The recitations are included in the back of curriculum manuals if you would be interested.

Others will be able to speak better as to what all is included and when in SC, but for core curriculum it is general information (prayer, pledge of allegiance, numbers, alphabet, days of week, months of year, continents, planets, etc.). Someone will be by shortly to help more.

Thank you, Beorn. I love how you describe your 3 year old, " The Master of Disasters"!

Yes, I'm interested in generally, what's included? I'm looking for Code of Conduct, virtue, manner, etc. building, days of the week, months of the year, and other worthwhile knowledge! Something that's easy to use with my group with a focus on the 7 year old. I'm not sure if the regular or Simply Classical recitations would be a better fit.

I like First Grade Recitation for a six and seven year old. For code of conduct, it includes the Morning Prayer and Closing (thankfulness) prayer. They are beautiful.

They prompt for coins, continents, planets, calendar/time, presidents, holidays and more.

Yes, especially since by third grade the Recitations begin including questions that are tied to the specific courses of the 3rd grade curriculum...it asks States and Capitals questions, but in the order they are covered in the curriculum; asks questions about animals because that is what is covered in the Mammals course, etc. But a primary grade list (K-2) might be just the ticket. But I also do not know what is in the SC lists.

Thank you! That helps! If I purchase just the Individual Recitation Plans will I have all that I need? Or just the schedule?

AJM, you will have all you need to do the recitation for the year, yes. Whichever level you choose you will have all of that level's information (week number, questions and answers for the recitation). For the earlier years, if I remember correctly, there are also instructions and helpful hints for how to lead recitation. Hope that helps.

For virtue and character teaching, you might also want to consider Myself & Others. https://www.memoriapress.com/curricu...hers-book-one/
