    Poetry for language development

In an effort to simplify school over the summer, while continuing to sharpen skills, I am looking to add some audio resources to our day. I am looking for a nice recording of a book of poetry, so that we can add to our poetry memorization until we pick up the first grade core in the fall. Either a CD or an Audible book would work fine. We already have the works of A A Milne, Robert Louis Stevenson, and two collections of Dr. Suess's, among others. I am looking for something new. I would really love something that was light-hearted, but still helped build a moral foundation. I wish that I could find Sing Song in an audio version, but thus far I have not. Honestly, at this time, Emily Dickinson is probably too morbid for my little one. Another round of A A Milne would be exquisite, if there were such a thing. Any ideas? Thank you so very, very much!!!!

Sorry I'm no help, but excited to see any other recommendations. If you don't mind, can you recommend any of the collections you have that you all particularly enjoy?

Also, I'd love it if MP had a CD for their poetry selections! Just an idea for when Tanya runs out of things to do.

It looks like you can get at least a few levels from iew free. We got it through something similar a few years ago.

It was hard to find a listing of all the poems included on the CD, but I found it on Jim Weiss' website.

The Carl Sandburg poem reminds me of the trip I took to his home in Flat Rock, NC. It's so beautiful there!
