    Buying Curriculum Dates

I’m wondering if there is a particularly better time of year to purchase full curriculum sets from MP directly? I know for some places conference and holiday seasons bring about extra discounts. Also, it would seem curriculum changes might be made up to a certain date. The 2nd Grade Science and Enrichment Add-On link has a 404 Error message and I wondered if that was due to curriculum changes being made? What are your thoughts? When do you buy your next grade level curriculum?
    Thanks,
    Mary

Yeah, I also saw that 4th grade accelerated is on back order. What does that mean? Don't you all normally print these to order since most people do 4M? I'm hoping to order it during a free shipping month in case I don't make it to Sodalitas this year.

      Good afternoon,

The back-ordered 4th Accelerated was a technical glitch and should now be fixed. I don't yet have an update on the 2nd Grade Science & Enrichment Set, so stay tuned, please!

As for discounts, there are some free shipping times- November and if ordered from a convention. There are sometimes free shipping over a certain $ amount. Generally no other sales. It's nice to see the materials at at a convention if you can.

February has been, historically, a free shipping month. That's when I get all my stuff for the "fall" (we start in July). The free shipping with discounted core packages make MP much more affordable!

Thank you all so much for the helpful information. Is Sodalitas an adult only conference?
              Thank You again,

Yes, it is. There are some people who bring their whole family and the person not attending the conference does activities with the children in town.

                  Mary,

The 404 Error is fixed on our website now, so you should be able to see the Second Grade Enrichment package. Let us know if you have any further problems.

                  Thanks,

                  Tanya

                    Hi,
Just a heads up about when you purchase: items can only be returned within 60 (or maybe 90) days for a full refund. While maybe not a big deal for you, it's something to keep in mind if you purchase early in the year but don't start for a few months. I purchased a full core at a convention (and it's great to see the materials then), but when we started in the fall, I realized we didn't need some of the materials. I was not able to return the items for a full refund even though it was the same curriculum being sold at this time.

Amanda U If you're on FB, there's a Buy/Sell group for MP materials. I don't advocate buying from it for some things (you can end up with outdated items), but it's great for selling up-to-date things: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1441750052756507/

                        Another thing to add ........

Organize your materials BEFORE you shop and don't rely on your memory. I'm sure the sales staff at MP looked at my orders and returns and thought, "Is she bananas?" I can't tell you how many times I've ended up buying things, then unearth the TM after I've unloaded everything. Argh.

                        My train of thought ---
"No, we're not doing Geo I this year, and I can return these."

                        Two weeks later ---
"Oh, yes we ARE doing GEO I. Better order some books."

                        Two months later ----
Geo I books are as pristine as the day I bought them, the second time around.

I'd love to say that my curriculum ordering is a smooth process, but honestly, it's a hot mess of emails flying back and forth, catalogs marked up and highlighted, books piled all around me. Craziness.

Thanks for the tip jen1134! - unfortunately we don't support facebook and we miss out on that. I've thought about selling via ebay though.

DiannaKennedy Yes, you are absolutely right to organize, organize, organize! ha! However, that was our first time diving into MP materials. We don't regret the purchase for the core subject material, but now I do have a better handle (or at least a little) on some of the material that works for our family.

Katie Love the classical teacher magazine!!!! Somehow it manages to come just as I'm having something tugging on mind to research pops up! It's a very encouraging read - especially as we realize so few around are doing the same or even similar.
