    Introductory Survey of Heidi

We’re starting Heidi this week and the CM lists “Introductory Survey of Heidi” for Monday (week 10). When we read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, there was an introduction in the study guide, but I’m not seeing one for Heidi. Any suggestions on what needs to be included in an introductory survey before we begin reading?

    Good evening Shauna,

My apologies for not responding sooner! The "Introductory Survey of Heidi" in the CM is a misprint. Due to C. S. Lewis' significance as a scholar and Christian apologist, as well as the allegorical nature of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, we wanted to use part of our LWW study guide to introduce the man and his work's context. Such a detailed introductory survey is the exception, not the norm, at this grade level, and students can dive right into Heidi just as they will into Lassie Come-Home (begun in Week 22).

    HTH!
