    Etymology of Jet Black

We were reading Chanticleer and the Fox today and came upon "jet" as a noun, which sent us on a little search for the origin. It has a slightly Greek and Roman origin, so I thought I'd share a write up on it, for I never knew it was so storied!

That's fascinating! Inspired by your research, I did some further digging and found that the word "jet" (the stone) itself comes ultimately from ancient Greek γᾰγάτης λίθος (jet [n.2]).

Thank you so much for sharing!
