    Hello, in translating the sentence:

    The great queen was frightening the horses. = Regina magna equos terrabat.

    Can you also write: Regina magna terrabat equos?

    does the order of verb and direct object matter?

    Yes, your sentence is technically correct but a better Latin syntax sentence has the verb last. Putting the direct object last is more English syntax. Word order is secondary to correct grammatical forms, but it's a nice touch and something to strive for in answers. That's why they are modeled that way in the workbook and answer key.
