In the workbook on page 116:

"Instructions: SP# 4 Parse and label, double underlining the predicate nominative, then translate.

2. Equus est donum."

Shouldn't it be "Equus est donus"?

Donum, doni, is a 2nd declension neuter noun. Even though the subject is masculine, the neuter predicate noun donum cannot be changed to the masculine. It does agree with the subject equus in being nominative singular.

Another example that might clarify: Christus est lux mundi, Christ is the light of the world. Christus is masculne, but lux is feminine. You can of course change the gender of a predicate adjective. (There a very few nouns that might change gender, but that is another story.)
