Second Form Latin Question regarding the word, Sacred.

Hello, I was wondering what is the difference between Sacrus, Sacrum, Sacra ... and Sacer, Sacra, Sacrum. Both are adjectives, both mean sacred and both are 2nd declesion adj.

    Or have I misunderstood?

    Thank you,
    Andrea

    Good morning Andrea,

"Sacrus" is not a Latin word. Did you mean "sanctus"? If so, "sacer" usually implies dedication to a specific god or gods; "sanctus" lacks that implication and eventually became a more general word. Of course, students in SFL do not need to worry about this distinction!

Yes, I did mean Santcus. Thank you for that clarification.
