    Third Form Latin Lesson VI

Is it "jam" or "iam"? In the book it's "jam" but in the flashcards it's "iam."

They are the same word. Classicists often write i for j and u for v, which is very confusing for beginners. We accidentally wrote iam in the first printing of TFL and are changing it back to jam as we reprint to be consistent with our use of j in other words, as is the norm in Christian Latin. Sorry for the confusion!

Thank you! Could you add a paragraph somewhere explaining that? If it's already there somewhere, could you point me in the right direction?

It's not in there, but changing iam back to jam should fix everything

We are using this as a learning experience and are adding "jam" to the flashcard so they are both on it :-)

My daughter noticed two more things:

            - In the video, it's spelled "iam."
            - On page 21 of the Student Text it is spelled "jam" but is placed in the Vocabulary list out of alphabetical order (it would be in alphabetical order if it was spelled "iam").
