    French I

    Lesson 17, page 55.

There is a typo in the Teacher Edition under A. 1. It should read "Il y a des crayons sur le pupitre." Not "stylos".

The final sentence on the page (under B.3.) has "prend" in the blank, but it should be "prends".

I'm also wondering about the 2nd part of the grammar section. Is "Elle a beaucoup de freres." correct? Seems like it should be "des" since it comes after the adjective.. or should the adjective be after the blank? Elle a de beaucoup freres.

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Suzanne

    Re: French I

    Hi Suzanne,

    Sorry for the delay.

    1. Thanks for pointing this out. We will get it fixed in the next printing.
    2. Again, thank you.
    3. The correct phrasing is "beaucoup de frères". It is a specific phrasing that we should have mentioned in the teacher manual. It follows the rule of not being "des" because there is an adjective ("beaucoup" which means "many"), but the French always say "many of [somethings]" not "many [somethings]".

    I hope this makes sense!
