    Common Topic

    Hello,

We are wondering how vital the Common Topic step is in relation to the entire program. Would it be detrimental to even consider skipping it and moving on to E/I/C?

We will have completed Fable through Ref/Con.

    Thanks!

    Hello Callista,
I'm sorry to be late responding! Tiny tech issue
To understand your situation better, can I query back at you about why you are wondering about skipping it? Is it a timing issue, content, or something else?

Fwiw, my son says they've used their Common Topic skills quite a bit in Thesis and Law this spring.

It is really more of a timing question. Our first preference is to complete all of the stages and likely that is what we will do. I know the earlier stages can be accelerated/combined and was wondering if this might prove true with Common Topic as well or is it really valuable to spend a year on it. I'm just weighing options and tossing thoughts around.

pickandgrin that is very helpful to know since we will be there sooner than later.

I don't think you'll need the entire year for CT. At HLN we do the beginning of the year review, CT, and then we usually have time for a few lessons of Encomium. Our typical schedule has had to be tweaked the last 2 years, but that combo usually works fine in a 33 week school year. HTH!

Agreeing with pickandgrin. MPOA does CT and ECI together in a single year.
